The new 2M Resources facility, which will be located in Sorel-Tracy’s industrial port zone, will feature cutting edge technology and be able to recycle 2000,000 tonnes of consignment glass each year. The Quebec-based company is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and intends to further pursue its mission of recycling and packaging glass, which has made it an undisputed leader in Quebec’s circular economy. 2M Resources prefers to transport its materials by train or ship, and will ensure that its inland operations comply with the highest environmental standards as well.

Why did 2M Resources choose Sorel-Tracy?
The City of Sorel-Tracy is an ideal location for 2M Resources, because of its maritime and rail infrastructures. Given its enormous potential for economic development and preference for green technology companies, the location seemed a natural fit with the company’s missions.
Where is the new 2M Resources site located in Sorel-Tracy?
The new 2M Resources facility will be located adjacent to those of Quebec-based QSL on Route 132 in the Bourgchemin electoral district, in the heart of Sorel-Tracy’s industrial port zone. The site is indicated within the yellow circle in the lower left-hand area of the image.

What is 2M Resources total investment in Sorel-Tracy?
The total investment is 30 million dollars.
Will 2M’s operations generate noise?
No, all of the company’s operations will take place indoors. In concrete terms, that means that there will not be any outdoor storage, or loading or unloading of glass outside the facility
Will 2M’s operations produce odours?
Although all of the operations will be carried out indoors, processes may generate some odours. In order to ensure that there is no impact on the neighbourhood, 2M Resources has met and exceeded the Ministère de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP) requirements, extending its chimneys by several meters and installing odor-neutralizing equipment.
Will 2M’s operations produce dust?
Glass crushing operations can generate dust. To mitigate that inconvenience, 2M’s operations will take place inside the facility and the company will install dust collectors where necessary.
Will the 2M plant operate 24/7?
No, the plant will operate from Monday to Friday. Maintenance work will be undertaken at night, when the plant is not in operation.
Will the plant emit black smoke?
Non in order to ensure that there is no impact on the neighbourhood, 2M Resources has ensured that it meets and exceeds the Ministère de l’Environnement’s environmental standards.
How will 2M Resources transport its glass?
The company will ship loads by rail or by sea. 2M Resources is mindful about its environmental footprint and seeks to favour rail or sea transport of over transport by truck
Who are 2M’s clients?
Following the implementation of the new broader refund program in November 2023, Recyc-Québec named the Association québécoise de récupération des contenants de boissons (AQRCB) as the designated management organization (DMO) for all recyclable materials produced by beverage producers in Quebec. This organization enters into agreements with companies such as 2M Resources. Private companies can also call on the company to help them manage their liquid food products (particularly those that have expired). Nespresso has been a client since 2015 for recycling their capsules.

Does 2M Resources recycle glass from citizens’ recycling bins?
No, 2M Resources only processes returnable beverage containers and glass from voluntary drop-off locations
What is the difference between glass processing and recycling?
Processing happens prior to recycling. It prepares the materials by removing impurities and adjusts the granulometry to remelting industry standards (for making new glass containers, for example). The recyclers then incorporate the recycled material into their final product.
