Founded in 1999 by Michel Marquis in Montreal, 2M Resources quickly established a unique and recognized expertise in the field of glass recycling in Quebec. With his clear and determined vision, Michel Marquis founded an eco-responsible company committed to the circular and sustainable economy.
Foundation in Montreal
2M Resources’ story begins in Montreal, beneath the Turcot interchange, where the company began specializing in processing glass. Thanks to innovation and a commitment to quality, it quickly set itself apart as a key player in the industry.
Relocation to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu
In 2006, 2M Resources relocated to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, marking an important step in its expansion. The move allowed the company to broaden its activities and bolster its capacity to process recyclable materials.
Partnership with Nespresso
2M Resources became Nespresso's Quebec partner for processing coffee capsules. This strategic partnership reinforced the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Expansion into the United States
The Quebec-based company began working with American partners to develop glass recycling in the northeastern United States. That expansion resulted in the opening of a new plant near Boston, Massachusetts, bringing 2M Resources' expertise to the American market. The plant handles glass consignments from four U.S. states.
From composting to biomethanization
The company shifted from composting the coffee grounds contained in Nespresso capsules to biomethanization, thereby improving its environmental impact.
Furthermore, Quebec is expanding the deposit system, in particular in terms of infinitely recyclable glass, an initiative that has long been supported by 2M Resources.

2M Resources celebrates its 25th anniversary!
Since its foundation in 1999, 2M Resources has succeeded in diverting over a million tonnes of glass from Quebec landfill sites for re-melting, making it a key partner for the government in achieving its environmental targets. Every tonne of glass processed by 2M Resources is reintegrated into the value chain, making the Quebec-based company a choice partner for companies concerned about their environmental footprint.
